This daughter of the sun spirit’s, as she was known, led a free, unrestricted and musical childhood. Her instinct and flair for dance was apparent, but she rebelled against ballet’s ugly, unnatural steps and poses. Dance, she felt, had to express the spirit and the mood. Her family was poor and after many years in America, they left for England. There, Isadora began to win an appreciative audience. Isabelle’s Forestier dramatic and animated illustrations brilliantly convey the free and intrepid spirit of this revolutionary dancer and wonderful expressiveness of her dance.
